Super cute story, pictures, and repetition. Kids love it and love repeating "Muddy Mud Bud!" throughout. I even hear my girls saying it outside anytime they see mud.
My grandson absolutely loves this book! He's 3-1/2 and is already starting to read & this book makes learning to read easier since there's a lot of repetition - - All I have to Say is "Muddy" and he follows up with "Mud, Bud". So many laughs with this book! for 3-1/2 to early reader age!
This book made my mud-loving granddaughter (2 1/2) as happy as she possibly could be. She became "Bud" and has played (indoors using pillows and blankets as "mud") for hour upon hour. The second she saw this book she broke into a huge smile and said "At last I have a mud book."

As the mother of a mud loving toddler I love this book. Patricia Lakin continues to delight and this new character has quickly earned a spot in our hearts and our daily reading stack. My only request would be for Spanish versions of Patricia Lakin's great books.
I have successfully used this book with early readers in my kindergarten classroom. The words are easily decodable and the pictures provide support for the text. My students enjoy it.
