- I like the photos and the history behind the pictures. I was disappointed in trying to use my coloring pencils . I used Prismacolor Premier and Verithin, Fabercastle classic, Fabercastell Polychromos, Art-n-fly etc. So I used wax and oil based pencils. It's not that they won't work well its because their is " no tooth to the paper" therefore you have to keep going over and over for the color to come up. I wish that these books that have coloring pages inserted would beware that the shiny smooth pages make it a hassle to use coloring pencils. I did try one page with water coloring pencils which made the paper buckle a bit but it did not work well. I tried it on a larger scale, like the background but for details it won't work. The pages are filled with tiny details that only a gel pen or ink pen could possibly fill in. I have the black micro pens and still had issues with the paper. Patience is the key in dealing with this coloring book.
